I feel Matt Senreich, Seth Green and company are kindred spirits. Well, whenever I see a clip from Star Wars: Robot Chicken, it fires the humor synapses with the same kind of shtick I used to lay down among friends. So I relate to this bizarre and incredibly funny mash-up of Star Wars mythos and action figure nostalgia, with its heavy doses of the quotidian, such as conference calls with bullying bosses or cheesy album promos.
And like any good cultural artifact, it of course spawned a sequel, Star Wars: Robot Chicken Episode II (I had an embedded video here from Google, but it got yanked.)
The first collection is the better of the two, with sharper parodies and better animation. But there are some seriously satirical gems to appreciate. SWRC Episode II comes out on DVD July 21.
