Lunacy of Sam Rockwell

I eagerly anticipate seeing Sam Rockwell’s latest film Moon, loosely described as a sci-fi thriller. Judging from the trailer there are — serendipitous, perhaps — echoes of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Steven Soderburgh’s intriguing but flawed Solaris remake.

But the real draw for me is Rockwell, who is one of the finest actors of his generation. He often plays comic, borderline maniacal characters and his ability to switch temperaments with such deftness always amazes me. In Moon, he seems to be delivering the same high-impact performance with it the added challenge of it being the only role in the film. Or is that roles?

Reviewed recently at Movieline here, with some spoiler warnings (although I think those are for the most part revealed in the trailer as well.)
